Right in the first part of the video on the right side the underwater video you can see how different your stroke and body position is! Very good, as you can see your hips, legs and head are not too deep anymore and are much closer to the surface.

We can see you are stretching much more with your arms when the come in the water.

0:17

On the first day you are taking too long to take a breath, and bringing you whole face out of the water, try doing a quicker breath to the side and only part of the face coming out.

1:14

It is very good that your arms are not straight in the recovery, keep working on it.

2:00

You are not finishing the stroke with your right arm, make sure you finish pulling all the way to till the end.

1:43

The kick is not just with your knees, bring your legs up with your knees straight then to kick down bend a bit the knees.

Make less kicks, stretch more with your arms and make your stroke longer.

Areas to work on, in general:

  • Overall your stroke looks much much better! Work on one thing at the time, try focusing on pulling more water every stroke, just like a bicycle the faster you go the easier will be to maintain a good balance and body position
  • Then try doing quicker breaths, you can practice this standing and just doing the head movement.
  • Then try bringing your hips and legs even higher in the surface, and the kick starting from your hips.

We can see here how you are more straight the last day, still you can stretch your hips and legs more, the more like a longboard you are the better.

3:13

Right away we can see you are more comfortable swimming backstroke the last day, you are moving more your arms, trying to do more strokes, but look at your hands, make sure you pull water with you hands towards your feet. Just like in freestyle the faster you go the easier will be for you to stay a float and have a better position.

So practice pulling more water every stroke.

3:28

Remember the kick starts from your core/hips, when you go down have you leg straight without bending your knees, when you kick up bend your legs a bit to kick up.

3:48

Good thing you have in backstroke you can keep your head out of the water all the time, keep it up like this.

3:55

Here we can see that your are pulling with your elbow first, remember it should be with your hand. Feel the water in the palm of your hand when you pull.

Areas to work on, in general:

  • Keep up practicing your backstroke, you will feel more comfortable, but remember you have to try and be on uncomfortable situations in order to improve.
